A City Close to My Heart

I’m going to enjoy writing this article because Doha is a city that is very close to my heart because I’ve lived there for 2 years and I loved every minute of it! It may not be as glamorous as its Middle Eastern sister, Dubai, but it is surely a city that will have you fall in love with it instantly! This modern city has a lot to offer so if you’re planning to visit anytime soon, you should definitely stay for at least 2 weeks because there is a lot to see (contrary to popular belief but so true)

Here are a few things you can do/see in Doha, Qatar!

1.Visit the Souks!

Souk Waqif and Gold Souq are great places to visit if you’re looking for bargain buys. You can find many exotic spices, antique jewelry, colorful textiles and cheap souvenirs there. Street food is also something you have to try because you won’t find a delicious Shawarma¬†that costs less than Rs.200 anywhere else! Grab some fresh juices and remember to wear comfortable walking shoes because you’ll want to explore every inch of these Souks!

2. Malls are the Go-To Place!

Doha has many Malls which include Villagio, an Italian themed Mall, that has everything you could ever dream of, The Mall, Lulu Mall, and many others. The Malls are huge and even have a cinema inside so if you’re planning to shop, eat and enjoy a movie at one place then visit any of these malls. $100/day is enough if you want to do some serious shopping.

3. Immerse yourself in Qatari Culture and Art!

A trip to the Museum of Islamic Arts is a must because you’ll get a chance to learn so much about local history and Islam as a religion. This Museum is home to one of the finest collections of Persian Rugs, Wood carvings, Turkish Mosaics and much more! You’ll also get a chance to see artifacts and manuscripts that showcase the history of Islam! Do visit this amazing Museum because it’ll be a great learning experience for you!
